Wall In Art Returns to Valle Camonica: Street Art Meets Prehistoric Rock Carvings

festival-fair · 2026-05-05

The second edition of Wall In Art, titled 'Muri d’arte nella Valle dei Segni,' takes place from September 14 to 29, 2016, in Valle Camonica, Italy—the first UNESCO World Heritage site in the country, known for over 250,000 rock carvings dating back to the 8th millennium BCE. The event, organized by the Distretto Culturale di Valle Camonica, invites contemporary street artists to create new works in dialogue with ancient visual communication. Artistic director OZMO, who led the inaugural edition, returns alongside internationally recognized artists GAIA and 2501. The three will create murals in Vezza d’Oglio (on the external walls of Casa del Parco Adamello), Monno (on the entrance wall along the road to Passo Mortirolo), and Paspardo (on the municipal building walls). Local residents and tourists can observe the creative process and interact with the artists. Three local students selected via public call—Giulia Manella (assisting OZMO), Matteo Facchini (with GAIA), and Tiziana Salvini (with 2501)—will work alongside the artists, echoing the Renaissance workshop model. Additionally, all classes of the Liceo artistico di Breno will participate in meetings and short workshops to foster a deeper understanding of street art among young people.
