Waldorf Astoria New York to Host Tennis Match in Grand Ballroom

The Waldorf Astoria New York will transform its legendary Grand Ballroom into a tennis court for a one-night-only event on August 27. The Ballroom Tennis Invitational will feature professional tennis players Tommy Paul, Maria Sakkari, Ben Shelton, and Leylah Fernandez, who will play beneath the ballroom's chandeliers and Art Deco details. The event marks the debut of the Waldorf Astoria Racquet Club, a new platform by Hilton that aims to merge racquet sports with luxury hospitality. Jamie Kerr, Vice President of Luxury Marketing Strategy at Hilton, described racquet culture as a modern expression of luxury, and the club as a way to create timely and surprising moments. Attendees will enjoy Champagne, tennis-inspired cocktails, and dining by James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Anthony. Ticketed experiences include stay-and-play options, spa treatments at the Guerlain Wellness Spa, and meet-and-greets, with a portion of proceeds benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. The event is part of a global program that will expand to other Waldorf Astoria destinations.
