Wainer Vaccari's Dreamlike Paintings at Castelbello Castle

A solo exhibition of Italian painter Wainer Vaccari (born Modena, 1949) is on view at Castello di Castelbello in Trentino-Alto Adige, featuring works from the 1990s to the present. The show highlights Vaccari's figurative painting, which emerged internationally in the early 1980s amid a revival of painting. His works create a personal commedia dell'arte with recurring characters in mysterious, ambiguous scenes blending cultural references (Giorgio de Chirico, Surrealism, Mannerism, German culture) and autobiographical fragments. Curator Gabriele Lorenzoni describes Vaccari's practice as operating "in the interstitial space between psychological investigation and surreality, between dream and play, between fiction and chronicle." The exhibition runs at Castelbello Castle.
