Waankarn Restaurant by Studio Locomotive: Hyperlocal Dining in Khao Lak
Studio Locomotive has completed Restaurant Waankarn in Khao Lak, Phang Nga, Thailand. The 704-square-meter dining space, designed with Thanart Chanyu as design director and Pornthep Nuchlek as design associate, is conceived as a hyperlocal threshold that goes beyond conventional leisure. Curated by Miwa Negoro, the project invites visitors to explore the complexities of local identity through architectural efficiency and the vernacular integrity of nearby Takua Pa. Photographed by Pichan Sujaritsatit, the restaurant is slated for completion in 2025, merging contemporary design with regional building traditions. The space accommodates both restaurant and bar functions within a community-oriented context.
