Vuslat and Sana Frini Unveil Nomadic Installation 'House of Silence'

architecture-design · 2026-05-06

Artist Vuslat and architect Sana Frini have created 'House of Silence', a nomadic installation inspired by the yurt, a circular, portable shelter used by nomads. The work invites visitors to pause and reflect in a silent, felt-lined space of 36 square meters and nearly five meters high, with a central skylight. At its heart hangs 'My Home in Silence', a large-format piece in raw linen with pastel and charcoal. The installation also includes daily performative interventions involving rose scent, sound, and collective silence. Vuslat, a multidisciplinary artist from Turkey, founded the global initiative 'Generous Listening' in 2020 and has exhibited at the Museum of Troy and Baksı Museum. Sana Frini, a Tunisian architect and co-founder of LOCUS based in Mexico City, focuses on neo-vernacular systems and climate resilience; her work has been shown at the Venice Biennale, the Versailles Biennale, and the Lisbon Architecture Triennale. The installation was built in collaboration with Mexican artisans: blacksmith Pablo Reyes from the State of Mexico and seamstress Martha Cedillo from Hidalgo. 'House of Silence' is conceived as a nomadic work that can travel and adapt, with this being its first chapter. Sponsors include Tektil and Artell.
