Vulnérables: Art Brut Exhibition at Paris's Salpêtrière Chapel

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The Chapelle Saint-Louis at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris hosts 'Vulnérables', the first exhibition dedicated to Art Brut in this historic venue. Curated by David Cohen, head of child and adolescent psychiatry at Salpêtrière and a Knight of the Legion of Honour, the show features around thirty artists, including top Art Brut figures. Works by Jean Dubuffet, André Robillard, Dan Miller, Brice Thévenot, Camille Courier, Francine Vaillant, and Johan Creten are on display. Cohen also presents his own sculptures and ceramics, including the installation 'Fantômes' made from hydraulic cushions used in marble quarries. The chapel, founded by Louis XIV in 1669 and designed by Libéral Bruant and Louis Le Vau, aims to become a dialogue space between culture and health. The exhibition runs until September 21, 2025.
