VR Experience Recreates WWII Internment at Palazzo Tilli

digital · 2026-04-26

Italian studio AnotheReality has launched a virtual reality experience titled 'Se chiudo gli occhi' (If I close my eyes), which allows users to explore the life of an interned person during World War II at Palazzo Tilli in Casoli, province of Chieti. Built in the early 19th century, Palazzo Tilli originally symbolized the ambitions of the emerging bourgeoisie and now serves as a cultural hub. During WWII, the building became an internment site under the fascist regime. The VR experience is set in the palace's cellar, with a fictional individual story but a historically accurate context. Lorenzo Cappannari, CEO of AnotheReality, stated that technology can give voice to stories that must be preserved and understood by new generations, making memory a life lesson through direct experience. The VR is available on-site at Palazzo Tilli.
