Vortic: Extended Reality Platform for Art Galleries Launched by Oliver Miro

digital · 2026-04-27

Oliver Miro, son of gallerist Victoria Miro, launched Vortic, an extended reality (XR) platform for galleries and collectors. Developed over three years, Vortic offers two main services: Vortic Curate, which allows galleries to create personalized virtual exhibitions using high-resolution 3D scanning, and Vortic Collect, an augmented reality app for smartphones and tablets enabling collectors to access private viewing rooms and fair previews. The platform aims to help galleries during the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced closures and cancellations of art fairs. David Zwirner had previously launched a similar online viewing room in 2017 and recently shared it with 12 young New York galleries under the project Platform. Vortic's services are normally paid, but offered free for the first three months due to the lockdown. Oliver Miro expressed hope that galleries would find it an incredible tool during the crisis.
