Vortic Brings Virtual Reality Art Experiences to Venice Biennale

digital · 2026-04-27

During the 59th Venice Biennale, Vortic, a leading platform for Extended Realities (AR, VR, MR), launched Vortic in Venice along the Zattere waterfront. The immersive event allowed visitors to explore virtual exhibitions and collections worldwide using Oculus Quest 2 headsets. Participating entities included Victoria Miro gallery, CICA Vancouver, Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga, and the Simon Nixon Collection. Featured content comprised a solo show by Doug Aitken (in collaboration with 303 Gallery, Galerie Eva Presenhuber, Victoria Miro, and Regen Projects), an exhibition dedicated to Spanish painter Patricio Cabrera, works from the Simon Nixon Collection, and the group show 'Through Our Eyes – Resonance and Illusion in Contemporary Portraits' by CICA Vancouver. Vortic also presented the 360° short film 'Fragonard to Tiepolo: A Rococo Journey with Flora Yukhnovich,' created during a 2020 residency at Victoria Miro Venice. The film follows British painter Flora Yukhnovich through locations including Chiesa Santa Maria della Visitazione, Ca' Rezzonico museum, and her own studio. The platform emphasizes high-quality virtual environments that closely replicate in-person visits.
