Volumi di carta: paper art collective exhibition at Castello Carlo V in Lecce

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The group show 'Volumi di carta' at Castello Carlo V in Lecce, curated by Lia De Venere, explores paper as a medium in contemporary art. Organized within the Premio Internazionale Manibus for the valorization of 'made in Italy' culture, it features four artists: Caterina Crepax, Daniele Papuli, duo Perino & Vele, and Anila Rubiku. Crepax presents female garments and bodices made of rice paper on tailor's mannequins, inspired by Eastern culture and environmental themes. Papuli's site-specific installation 'Cartoframma' consists of over 25,000 white paper strips. Perino & Vele, a duo formed 30 years ago, exhibit papier-mâché sculptures with a playful yet socially critical edge. Rubiku's 'Houses of the rising sun' is a luminous embroidered installation created with volunteers from a London cancer care center. The exhibition runs at Castello Carlo V in Lecce, Italy.
