Volterra seeks 21 young people to become Italian Capital of Culture
Volterra has launched a call for 21 young people aged 18-29 to participate in a living lab as part of its bid to become Italian Capital of Culture 2021. The initiative, led by director Paolo Verri (former director of Matera Basilicata 2019 Foundation), aims to reverse the classic planning paradigm by involving youth in cultural production. Seven participants will come from Volterra, seven from Tuscany, and seven from the rest of Italy. During a four-day residency, they will live with local families, explore the city's history and heritage, and develop 21 projects to be included in the candidacy dossier. The call is open until January 28, 2020, and targets young operators and managers of public and private institutions. Volterra is one of 44 Italian cities competing for the title, with a €1 million government prize. The deadline for dossier submission is March 2, 2020.
