Volterra Plans Major Mauro Staccioli Show and New Alabaster Museum
In 2019, the Tuscan city of Volterra will honor Mauro Staccioli (1937–2018) with a significant exhibition, marking a decade since the unveiling of his piece 'Luoghi di esperienza' (2009). Eleonora Raspi, the cultural councillor, revealed a series of exhibitions slated for the renovated Salone Superiore at Palazzo dei Priori, including Laura Cionci's 'Il giardino segreto' (July 27–September 2) and 'Tadeusz Niescier. Microcosmos,' which will extend into 2019. The Pinacoteca Civica di Volterra, overseen by Alessandro Furiesi, showcases works by Rosso Fiorentino and Luca Signorelli. Additionally, Volterra is pursuing UNESCO recognition for its Etruscan cities and has announced plans for a new alabaster museum. In Siena, the exhibition 'Josef and Anni Albers' is taking place at Santa Maria della Scala, while Volterrateatro will transition to a biennial festival.
