Volta Miami's inaugural art fair cancelled due to travel uncertainties and venue issues

The debut edition of VOLTA Miami, scheduled for November, has been cancelled by organizers. VOLTA director Kamiar Maleki cited international travel uncertainties and venue contract issues as primary reasons for the decision. Maleki emphasized that the boutique fair brand requires meeting specific standards for curated, engaging experiences, which COVID-related obstacles made impossible for this premiere. The fair's international reach, particularly in U.S. events, faced serious challenges with exhibitor travel restrictions. VOLTA recently returned to Basel in September after a year-long delay, where despite truncated travel conditions, the fair was successful with quality collectors and satisfied exhibitors. Art Basel Miami remains scheduled to open to the public from December 2-4, 2021. The cancellation affects what would have been VOLTA's first Miami edition during the important December art week.
