Volocopter Unveils $574K Ultralight eVTOL Aircraft VoloXPro

other · 2026-05-01

Volocopter has unveiled the VoloXPro, an ultralight electric multicopter with a price tag of $574,000 (490,000 euros), akin to a Ferrari SF90 Stradale. This German firm aims to provide personal flight options for both private users and commercial entities. The VoloXPro, which features an 18-motor, 18-rotor setup similar to the VoloCity air taxi, weighs just 1,323 lbs, allowing it to be certified as an ultralight aircraft by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) by the end of 2025. It has a modular battery system, achieving a cruise speed of 47 mph and a range of 25 miles. The VoloCity, in contrast, has a cruising speed of 68 mph and a 12-mile range. The VoloXPro can reach 80% charge in 20 minutes. Customization options cater to flight schools and enthusiasts, from a simple cockpit to an advanced glass cockpit. Volocopter's CTO, David Bausek, highlighted the ease of flying due to the fly-by-wire system, which is low-noise and emissions-free. Following its acquisition by Diamond Aircraft in 2024, Volocopter anticipates having a final prototype ready for flight tests by June 2025, with a demonstration in September and type certification expected by the end of 2026. Meanwhile, the VoloCity is on track for certification in 2027.
