London-based high-tech garment maker Vollebak has unveiled the FWAHBL Jacket, a limited edition of ten units priced at £2,995. The jacket is made from a double-faced polychloroprene rubber coated onto a woven polyester core, a material developed with the Fothergill Group, a 179-year-old British company that supplies the British Army with protective materials. The vivid yellow fabric is typically used in fully airtight chemical protection suits, but Vollebak emphasizes it is not certified safety equipment, instead positioning it for 'bad weather and existential dread.' The launch is accompanied by an elaborate promotional campaign featuring AI-generated imagery, a comic book, a film trailer, and retro-game style packaging, with a playable video game promised. The design pays homage to 40 years of gaming, from 8-bit arcade cabinets to photorealistic worlds. Founded by twin brothers Nick and Steve Tidball, Vollebak is known for eccentric materials and stunts, including the Sonic Jacket with 180 speakers and a collaboration with Bang & Olufsen on the Spaceshop retail unit.
