Volkswagen ID. Polo Brings Back Physical Controls, Prioritizes Tactile Ergonomics
Volkswagen has introduced the ID. Polo, a compact electric vehicle crafted in Wolfsburg under the guidance of chief designer Andreas Mindt. Priced from 24,995 euros, it showcases the 'Pure Positive' design philosophy, focusing on tactile ergonomics and superior build quality rather than solely on digital interfaces. While it includes a 10-inch Digital Cockpit and a 13-inch touch display, it also brings back physical controls for essential functions in response to feedback on touch-only setups. Drawing inspiration from the original Golf I's C-pillar, the design aims for a comforting look. Built on the MEB+ platform, the ID. Polo spans 4,053 mm in length and has a 2,600 mm wheelbase, featuring a luggage compartment that is 25% larger than its gasoline counterpart. The interior boasts decorative seams and badges for a homely feel, with premium options like pneumatic massage seats and a panoramic glass roof, making luxury accessible. Additionally, its vehicle-to-load capability enables the powering of external devices. The ID. Polo sets a standard for modern design, emphasizing emotional industrial design and user experience.
