Volcano Extravaganza 2018: Total Anastrophes on Stromboli

festival-fair · 2026-05-04

From July 27 to 29, 2018, Stromboli, part of Sicily's Aeolian Islands, will host the eighth Volcano Extravaganza, themed Total Anastrophes. Organized by the Fiorucci Art Trust and curated by Milovan Farronato—who recently took on the curator role for the Italian Pavilion at the 2019 Venice Biennale—the event will feature a mix of visual arts, music, film, fashion, performance, and dance. The theme encourages artists to explore new interpretations and reflect on both shared and personal memories. A preview took place in February 2018 at the Dhaka Art Summit. Coinciding with a total lunar eclipse, the festival will highlight a one-night exhibit of Runa Islam’s film. Artists like Cecilia Bengolea and Alex Cecchetti will also participate, alongside a dancehall party featuring live performances.
