Vogue Forces of Fashion Lands in Rome for One-Day Event

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

Vogue held the first Italian edition of its Forces of Fashion event on October 22, 2023, at the Mattatoio museum spaces in Rome. Organized with the support of Rome's Assessorato ai Grandi Eventi, Sport, Turismo e Moda, the one-day conference featured talks by top fashion designers and emerging talents. Head of Editorial Content of Vogue Italia Francesca Ragazzi curated the program, praised by British Vogue Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful. Morning talks included Sabato De Sarno (Gucci), Pierpaolo Piccioli (Valentino), Silvia Venturini Fendi (Fendi), and Maria Grazia Chiuri (Dior), who offered little new insight, relying on rhetoric about skilled labor shortages and the need for a fashion museum. Evening sessions, moderated by philosopher Emanuele Coccia, featured emerging designers such as Luca Lin (ACT N°1), Gisèle Claudia Ntsama, Jezabelle Cormio, Riccardo Scaburri (Lessico familiare), Giulia and Camilla Venturini (Medea), Marco Panconesi, Niccolò Pasqualetti, and Sabrina Mandelli (SSHEENA). They expressed indifference to commercial concerns, focusing on artistic communication. The day closed with a live performance by Achille Lauro, who also presented an immersive défilé with stylist Nick Cerioni and showroom Mirta, created by students from Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda ETS. Vogue also highlighted its project The Italian New Wave, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, promoting young Italian designers abroad.
