Vlatka Horvat's 'Surroundings' at Galleria Renata Fabbri, Milan

exhibition · 2026-05-05

Vlatka Horvat (born 1974 in Čakovec, lives in London and New York) presents her first solo exhibition in Milan, titled 'Surroundings', at Galleria Renata Fabbri. The centerpiece is 'At Some Length', an extensive wall installation that connects the front and back perimeters of the gallery space. The exhibition unfolds around this work, offering a measurement stripped of conventions and codes. Opposite the continuous knots of string, Horvat displays two works from 2016, 'Set Right (Table Leg)' and 'Set Right (Tabletop)', which preserve the void they necessitate, echoing the bending and ritual of 'Fixed Holes' (2017). The serial sections of photographs 'End In Sight' and 'Tree Line (with Edges)' push the horizon toward a vanishing point, forcing the represented landscape into a new orthogonality and a spasmodic definition of infinity.
