Vlatka Horvat's Croatian Pavilion at Venice Biennale 2024 centers artist exchange and informal networks
Vlatka Horvat is set to showcase her work, 'By the Means at Hand,' at the Croatian Pavilion in Cannaregio, Fabrica 33, during the 60th Venice Biennale, running from 20 April to 24 November 2024. The exhibition will feature contributions from approximately 200 artist friends residing abroad, who will present pieces that explore the experiences of the diaspora. Horvat will send them fresh creations made in the pavilion, which she utilizes as her studio, using informal couriers to avoid traditional shipping methods. This approach critiques the environmental impact of biennials while fostering collaboration. Influenced by artists like Jan Švankmajer and Mladen Stilinović, she also suggests poetry by Josip Pupačić and folk music. Horvat looks forward to exhibitions by Adriano Pedrosa and projects highlighting Palestinian artists.
