VJ Suave Projects Animated Light Shows onto Azorean Landscapes

artist · 2026-05-05

Brazilian duo VJ Suave, composed of Ygor Marotta and Ceci Soloaga, projected their signature bicycle-mounted animations onto natural elements like trees, beaches, and cliffs on São Miguel Island in the Azores, Portugal. Invited for the Walk&Talk residency in July 2016, they created a stop-motion video using long-exposure photography at locations including Lagoa das Empadadas, Porto da Ribeirinha, Cachoeira do Cabrito, and Lagoa Verde in Sete Cidades. Each of the 284 frames for the moon scene was exposed for about 15 seconds, with five hours spent per location to capture textures without post-production effects.
