Vivienne Griffin's 'She Said' exhibition at Bureau explores intimacy, indifference, and historical echoes
From February 22 to March 22, 2015, Vivienne Griffin showcased her second solo exhibition, titled 'She Said,' at Bureau Inc. in New York. This exhibition included a variety of ink drawings and stone sculptures, such as Standard Tap (2014), Coffee Table (2015), and The Glamour of Ornament (2015). By thoughtfully arranging materials, the show steered clear of nostalgia while engaging with historical awareness, reminiscent of Joan Didion's The White Album (1979). The accompanying soundtrack, The Only Way Out is Out (2015), featured female vocalists, and a related piece, The Only Way Out is Through (2015), showcased a silver microphone. Throughout the exhibition, titles like Intimacy (2015) appeared in pairs. The venue was situated at 178 Norfolk Street, nestled between Houston and Stanton streets.
