Vivace & Troppo: Glass Art Exhibition at Château d'Eau in Bourges
The exhibition 'Vivace & Troppo. Le verre à l’état libre' is on view at Château d’eau-Château d’art in Bourges from July 24 to September 20, 2020. Curated by Yves Sabourin, the show features 85 glass works by 38 artists and artisans, highlighting the collaboration between artists and glassmakers. The venue, a 19th-century water tower transformed into a contemporary art space since 1999, provides a dramatic setting. Notable works include Jean-Michel Othoniel's 'Brique bleue' (2011) and Bahar Kocabey's 'Les Abricots de ma fleur' (2020), a mural of glass shards referencing Kurdish history, fabricated by Pierre Gallou. The exhibition honors the glass heritage of the Centre-Val de Loire region, with contributions from Cirva in Marseille and Ciav in Meisenthal. Françoise Quardon's 'Crâneuse, vanité en carafe' exemplifies artist-artisan synergy. The show originated from a seminar Quardon led with ENSA Bourges students, initiated by CNRS researcher Nadia Pellerin. Student works by Axel Decelle, Joëlle Forestier, Lucile Lacape, Clara Noseda, and Kocabey are included. The exhibition will travel to Le Garage in Amboise from July 2 to September 19, 2021.
