Vittorio Sgarbi attacks Trieste municipality for neglecting his exhibition

Vittorio Sgarbi has publicly criticized the municipality of Trieste for failing to adequately promote his exhibition "Le stanze triestine di Vittorio Sgarbi e altre stanze," currently on view at the Salone degli Incanti dell'Ex Pescheria. In a video message posted on Facebook, Sgarbi expressed regret for bringing his collection to Trieste, accusing the administration of lacking passion and competence. The exhibition, curated by Pietro Di Natale, features over 200 works from the Cavallini-Sgarbi collection, spanning from the late 15th to mid-20th century, including paintings, drawings, and sculptures. It also includes a selection of over 50 artists from Trieste or active in the city. The show is dedicated to Rina Cavallini, Sgarbi's mother and collector, and runs until August 20. In response, Trieste's councillor Giorgio Rossi defended the administration, stating that Sgarbi could promote the show himself and that the exhibition has averaged over 2,000 visitors per month, outperforming previous shows with lower spending. Rossi noted that the city had inherited a lack of cultural and tourism communication and has begun investing in it.
