Vittorio Santoro's Conceptual Palimpsest at Fondation d'Entreprise Ricard

exhibition · 2026-04-23

Vittorio Santoro, a Zurich native born in 1962, currently resides in Paris. His solo exhibition at Fondation d'Entreprise Ricard in 2012 presents a blend of conceptual and sensual pieces that serve as palimpsests, drawing from various disciplines. Since 2005, he has created time-based text works, including a six-month project involving daily tracing of Helvetica fragments, culminating in the tearing of the paper. Notable works include "Il fait jour ? (Il ne fait pas nuit)" (2007), featuring a voice repeating a violent narrative, and "This Impact Leads Into…, February – July 2011 (Origami / Sphinx)," which combines origami and text to create mystery. His other pieces explore themes from Dostoevsky and incorporate references to Alekhine’s Defence and Carlo Ginzburg’s theories.
