Vittoria Viale’s Studio Replica Opens Platea’s Exhibition Cycle in Lodi

The nonprofit cultural association Platea Palazzo Galeano, founded in Lodi in 2020, launched its exhibition program with a site-specific installation by Sanremo-born artist Vittoria Viale (b. 1998), on view until September 23. The space, a former porter’s lodge turned street-level window gallery in the 17th-century Palazzo Galeano, was inaugurated in June with Marcello Maloberti’s Trionfo dell’aurora, produced with Galleria Raffaella Cortese. Maloberti, who also mentors the four young artists exhibiting through December, wrote the association’s name in a letter to president Claudia Ferrari, citing Harald Szeemann’s “platea dell’umanità.” The current show, curated by Francesca Grossi, replicates Viale’s studio environment, incorporating video, sculpture, photography, drawing, and found elements like the original iron grate. The artist engaged passersby during installation, fulfilling Platea’s goal of public participation. Upcoming exhibitors are Giulio Locatelli (Sep 29–Oct 31), Silvia Berry (Nov 6–Dec 5), and Vittoria Mazzonis (Dec 11–Jan 9). The program is supported by Fondazione Comunitaria della Provincia di Lodi onlus, Ferrari, and Consorzio Tutela Grana Padano. Platea has attracted interest from galleries including Galleria Continua for future collaborations.
