Vitra's Reset modular system activates 'in-between zones' with beta mindset

Vitra, the Swiss furniture company, has launched Reset, a modular stepped flooring system crafted by Swiss architect and designer Stephan Hürlemann. This innovative system features square platforms that measure 75 by 28 centimeters, constructed from a basic panel and two base components that can be easily assembled, reconfigured, disassembled, and stored like building blocks. Emphasizing Vitra's 'beta mindset,' which prioritizes flexibility and adaptability over perfection, Reset aims to revitalize underutilized 'in-between zones' in workplaces, schools, and universities—such as corridors and areas lacking windows—transforming them into spaces for spontaneous meetings, quiet work, or casual conversations. Hürlemann remarked that meaningful interactions often occur in spaces without a defined purpose, and Reset is intended to facilitate these experiences. The system's design allows for quick reconfiguration without structural changes, enabling organizations to swiftly respond to evolving demands. In light of rising rents and economic challenges, Vitra highlighted the benefits of a beta mindset. Additionally, Reset is equipped with cushions for added comfort and can serve as meeting areas, sofas, platforms, or installations.
