Vitra Reissues Verner Panton's Animal Cube Sculptures for Centenary

architecture-design · 2026-08-12

To honor the centenary of designer Verner Panton, Swiss furniture brand Vitra is bringing back his animal-shaped modular sculptures. The 'Panton Cubes' kits, created in collaboration with Verner Panton Design, feature a duck, flamingo, cat, and giraffe, encouraging creative arrangements. These re-releases, inspired by Panton's 1970s 'Pantonaef' system, showcase glossy chrome or duo-tone finishes, contrasting with the original matte look. The cubes are set to debut at the London Design Festival, taking place from 12-20 September 2026, at Vitra's Shoreditch showroom, alongside new works from other designers. Additionally, archival pieces are exhibited at 'Verner Panton: Form, Colour, Space' until 9 May 2027 at the Vitra Design Museum's Schaudepot near Basel.
