Vitelli Brand Founder Mauro Simionato Details Ethical Knitwear Revival After Sabbatical
In 2016, Mauro Simionato established the Milan-based label Vitelli, emphasizing sustainable knitwear through a unique regenerative method known as Doomboh®. After pausing production in 2025 to assess the market, Vitelli is set to relaunch with a project overseen by T.NUA. Since 2020, Simionato has served as Global Creative Director for Clark's and has been a professor at IUAV in Venice since 2022. He draws creative influence from Italy's "Cosmic Youth" movement of the early 1980s. This initiative will collaborate with Nepalese artisans from the Knotcraft Centre, founded by Shyam Badan Shrestha, utilizing natural materials such as nettle, hemp, and banana. The innovative wearable pieces will be featured in T.NUA's Craftsmanship Program in 2026, prioritizing research over immediate sales.
