Vistamare Pescara Celebrates 20 Years with Group Exhibition 'Suoni da un’altra stanza'
Vistamare gallery in Pescara marks its 20th anniversary with the group show 'Suoni da un’altra stanza' (Sounds from Another Room), curated by Alessandro Rabottini. The exhibition reinterprets the painted room concept from the gallery's 2001 inaugural show 'Camera Italia', staging dialogues among artists who have shaped Vistamare's history. Housed in an 18th-century building with frescoed vaults, the show treats each room as a site for multisensory exchange, not merely refuge. Works by Anna Franceschini, Jan Vercruysse, Joseph Kosuth, Rosa Barba, Ettore Spalletti, Bethan Huws, Mimmo Jodice, Haim Steinbach, Polys Peslikas, Linda Fregni Nagler, Mario Airò, and Armin Linke explore representation, illusion, time, light, and perception. Franceschini's video installation animates a chandelier's pendants; Vercruysse's empty frames play on absence. Kosuth's neon text from Nabokov's autobiography pairs with Barba's film-loop clock spelling 'yellow'. Spalletti's color-light fusion dialogues with Huws's display cases of time-worn stones. Jodice's diptychs juxtapose Capodimonte masterpieces with contemporary faces; Steinbach's shelves contrast figurative and abstract sculptures. Peslikas and Fregni Nagler fragment a found photo of adolescents with protective goggles. Airò's chromatic diapason and Linke's photographs of a harpist and a reverberation chamber evoke synesthetic perception. The exhibition runs at Vistamare, Pescara, 2021.
