Vis à Vis: A Year of Shared Museum Education at Cinecittà

The Vis à Vis project, launched a year ago by Cinecittà si Mostra, has completed its first year, bringing together multiple museum education departments across Italy. The initiative, conceived by Barbara Goretti, head of Cinecittà si Mostra, Miac, and the Cinecittà education department, aimed to create a network for sharing knowledge and strategies among diverse institutions. Participants included public museums such as MAMbo-Museo Morandi, Museo Civico di Castelbuono, and Museo delle Civiltà, as well as private venues like DART Chiostro del Bramante and Art Forum Würth Capena. The project spanned regions including Sicily, Emilia-Romagna, Rome, and Lazio. It fostered unexpected dialogues between disparate heritages, such as Fellini and Morandi, animation and environment, cinema and optical art, and folk traditions and film props. The project concluded with a final conference at Cinecittà, where educators and directors highlighted the network's importance. A new edition is planned for 2023, with additional forms of interaction between museums and other entities.
