Virtual museum dedicated to Frederick II opens in Jesi

cultural-heritage · 2026-05-05

A new multimedia museum dedicated to Frederick II Hohenstaufen opened on July 1 in Jesi, his birthplace. The museum, housed in Palazzo Ghisleri, features 16 rooms that chronologically trace the emperor's life, battles, ideals, and myth through digital reconstructions, animations, and projections of medieval miniatures, without physical artifacts. The scientific curation is by Anna Laura Trombetti Budriesi, Laura Pasquini, and Tommaso Duranti. The project was established by the Fondazione Federico II Stupor Mundi with contributions from Gennaro Pieralisi, Fondazione Marche, the Municipality of Jesi, Fondazione Pergolesi Spontini, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Jesi, Fondazione Federico II Hohenstaufen, and Regione Marche. Direction by William Graziosi; museographic setup by Volume Srl of Milan. The museum aims to place Frederick II at the center of contemporary debates on multiculturalism, religion, and interdisciplinarity.
