Vincenzo Trione named advisor for museums and contemporary art in Naples
Naples Mayor Gaetano Manfredi has appointed Vincenzo Trione as advisor for museum programming and contemporary art. Trione, a professor of Art and Media and Contemporary Art History at IULM University in Milan where he serves as Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Tourism and President of the School of Cultural Heritage and Activities, will work unpaid. He curated the Italy Pavilion at the 56th Venice Biennale in 2015. His role involves rethinking the identity and mission of several city sites including Castel dell'Ovo, Maschio Angioino, PAN, the Hypogea of Piazza Plebiscito, and Casina Pompeiana. Trione aims to move beyond localistic management and foster national and international collaborations. A key project is the establishment of the Fondazione Cultura, modeled after the Civic Museums of Venice or Brescia, to manage these sites. Trione will remain based in Milan and continue his university work.
