Vincenzo Trione appointed president of Scuola del Patrimonio

Vincenzo Trione, art critic for Corriere della Sera and professor at IULM University in Milan, has been appointed president of the Scuola del Patrimonio in Rome, effective from September 1, 2020. The school, promoted by the Fondazione Scuola dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali with MIBACT as founding member, offers a two-year advanced specialization and research course for future cultural heritage professionals. Trione, who has been involved since its founding in 2016 as a member of the scientific council under first director Maria Luisa Catoni, succeeds jurists Sabino Cassese and Marco Cammelli. He expressed gratitude to Minister Dario Franceschini for the opportunity and emphasized the school's dual mission: an Italian track for biennial specialization and an International School of Cultural Heritage for young officials from Mediterranean and Arab countries. Trione highlighted the need for generational renewal in museums, especially after COVID-19 revealed staffing weaknesses, and stressed the importance of interdisciplinary training integrating media, new technologies, data analysis, and cultural economics. He also noted ongoing discussions with Minister Manfredi and the Consiglio superiore dei Beni culturali.
