Vincenzo Del Monaco's Ceramic Bulls Land on Chefs' Tables at Brera Contract

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Architect and designer Vincenzo Del Monaco (Grottaglie, 1981) presents 'Cento sTORIe, dieci anni di Tori e varia umanità' at Brera Contract in Milan on September 7–8, 2021, during Supersalone. The exhibition features 100 sculptural bulls, his signature non-serial works, tracing a decade of formal evolution. A tasting curated by chef Andrea Berton accompanies the show, with a menu inspired by the bull and Puglia. Del Monaco's tableware—over 600 pieces including plates, bowls, oil holders, and caviar containers—adorns tables of top Italian chefs: Domingo Schingaro (Due Camini, Borgo Egnazia), Andrea Ribaldone (I due Buoi, Alessandria), Felice Sgarra (Casa Sgarra, Trani), Antonio Zaccardi (Ristorante Pashà, Conversano), Isabella Potì and Floriano Pellegrino (Bros', Lecce), and Antimo Maria Merone (Estro, Hong Kong). The artist's friendship with Berton began in summer 2012 at Masseria Bagnara Resort & Spa in Marina di Lizzano (Taranto), leading to a custom mise en place. Del Monaco's bulls, first made in 2011, explore form through clay and color, as he states: 'The form, vibrant in its constancy, undergoes multiple metamorphoses through the choice of coating.'
