Vincenzo Agnetti's Futuristic Visions in Milan Archive Show

exhibition · 2026-04-27

A new exhibition at Archivio Agnetti in Milan, titled 'Le stanze delle predizioni,' revisits the prophetic works of Vincenzo Agnetti (1926-1981). The show, previewed from March 29 to April 3 during Milan Art Week and reopening in September 2022, recreates the artist's 1977 exhibition at Museo Castello di Portofino, featuring five rooms including the 'Stanza delle predizioni.' Works like 'Ritratto di tutti' (a composite face from multiple photographs), 'L'Apocalisse' (a perspex book with red wax seals), and 'Profezia' (graphic work with instructions) anticipate AI-generated imagery and global capitalist convergence under science's 'dictatorship.' Agnetti used a modified Olivetti Divisumma calculator ('macchina drogata') to generate text. The archive, run by daughter Germana Agnetti and grandson Guido Barbato, also reconstructed the NEG device (a 'negative music' instrument) in 2021 and collaborated with the Archivio Paolo Scheggi on a project involving a virtual coin. The scientific committee includes Bruno Corà, Marco Meneguzzo, and Giorgio Verzotti. Germana Agnetti aims to recreate her father's conceptual framework in virtual reality, seeking investors.
