Vincent Leroy Installs Molecular Cloud on Greek Island of Milos

exhibition · 2026-04-26

French artist Vincent Leroy (b. 1968, Avranches) has installed his kinetic sculpture Molecular Cloud on the island of Milos, Greece. The work is situated at Sarakino beach on the northeastern coast, known as “moon beach” for its white volcanic rock formations shaped by wind and saltwater erosion. The sculpture consists of multiple glossy white spheres of varying sizes that slowly rotate, reflecting the sky's colors. Leroy has previously exhibited versions of Molecular Cloud at Coachella 2023 and on the Greek island of Santorini. The artist emphasizes slow, fluid movement to create a hypnotic effect, stating: “I use deliberately slowed, fluid and continuous movements to create a hypnotic effect and immerse viewers in another temporality, detached from reality and more contemplative.” Milos is the island where the famous Venus de Milo was discovered, attributed to sculptor Alexandros of Antioch, now at the Louvre Museum in Paris.
