Villeroy & Boch and Ideal Standard unveil sensory bathroom installation at Milan Design Week
Villeroy & Boch and Ideal Standard have unveiled a sensory installation titled 'Design Continuum: A Study in Sensory Experience' at their Milan showroom during Milan Design Week 2026. Created with design agency Elastique, the installation transforms the showroom into five immersive rooms combining projection, sound, texture, and scent. Highlights include the Antao 3D, a 3D-printed washbasin prototype made from 100% recycled ceramic, and a silo that releases sand to trigger projection mapping. The Artis Sense room features interactive basins that visitors can rotate to alter projections. The Vea installation presents water fittings in a fragranced environment, while Antao Earth uses flowing water and analogue slide projections. The Atelier Collections space showcases washbasins in alternating light and dark environments. The designers adopted a 'ready-made' spatial approach, leaving technical elements visible. The installation is housed at Foro Buonaparte 70, ahead of the showroom's reopening later in 2026. The exhibition runs from 21 to 26 April 2026.
