Villa San Michele's Olivetum Pavilion Transforms into Contemporary Jungle with Dioranimalia

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Villa San Michele in Capri, once the residence of Axel Munthe, kicks off its 2024-2025 exhibition season with Dioranimalia, a unique fusion of nature and artifice. This initiative, organized by the Fondazione Axel Munthe and curated by Arianna Rosica and Gianluca Riccio, reimagines the Olivetum pavilion as a modern jungle showcasing pieces by Andrea Anastasio and Estúdio Campana. The exhibition delves into the interconnectedness of nature, humanity, and the animal realm. Featuring bronze sculptures by Campana that portray chimeras and works by Anastasio that reference art history, the installation, which runs until June 7, 2024, emphasizes the relationship between the pavilion’s interior and the garden, encouraging a renewed bond between humans and animals.
