Villa Medici Opens First Night Exhibition in Gardens
The Villa Medici gardens in Rome are hosting the French Academy's inaugural nighttime exhibition, 'Ouvert la nuit,' which will be open until January 28. Directed by Muriel Mayette-Holtz and curated by Chiara Parisi, this exhibition is part of the new Festival des Lumières initiative. Seventeen artists, including Rosa Barba, Camille Blatrix, and Maurizio Cattelan, have designed installations for the garden's sixteen rectangular areas. Notable features include Christian Boltanski's sensory path with fog, Félix González-Torres's light garland 'Untitled (America),' and Trisha Donnelly's work. Visitors navigate through the darkness with lamps, engaging with the art, a concept inspired by Paul Morand's short stories.
