Villa Medici Opens Call for 16 Fellows for 2027–2028 Residency

On September 4, 2026, the French Academy in Rome – Villa Medici will begin accepting applications for its 2027–2028 residency program. This competition will award 16 fellowships for a one-year residency from September 2027 to August 2028, spanning various fields. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, proficient in French, and submit their applications online between 12:00 CET on September 4 and October 16, 2026. Established in 1666 within a 16th-century villa, the academy accommodates over 70 artists each year. Chosen fellows will receive a stipend, housing, studio space, and additional support. The selection process includes dossier pre-selection and interviews conducted by an eight-member jury.
