Villa Manin reopens with Zimoun and Paolo Toffolutti exhibitions
Villa Manin in Passariano, Udine, has reopened after restoration of part of its 18th-century complex, hosting two concurrent exhibitions. Swiss artist Zimoun (b. 1977) presents nine large-scale kinetic and sound installations, including "300 prepared dc-motors" (2009) and "30 prepared dc-motors," where small rods or wooden cubes driven by motors create marks on walls. The works, curated by director Guido Comis, engage with the villa's architecture, stuccoes, and frescoes, and dialogue with natural sounds. In another wing, Paolo Toffolutti (Udine, 1962) exhibits both pictorial and conceptual works exploring what lies beyond painting, questioning the relationship between figure and background. The exhibitions run at Villa Manin, a historic venue in Friuli.
