Villa Genoese Zerbi in Reggio Calabria Hosts Ecosistemi dell’arte Exhibition
Villa Genoese Zerbi, a historic palace in Reggio Calabria rebuilt after the 1908 earthquake in Venetian neo-Gothic style, is hosting the exhibition “Ecosistemi dell’arte: creare, condividere e custodire” until July 9. Curated by Lorenzo Benedetti, the show brings together works from the Aldo Colella collection alongside local artists, creating a dialogue between international and regional contemporary art. The exhibition is structured in three sections: a poster project called 3500 cm² promoting local artists, a section dedicated to artists from Calabria and Basilicata, and a selection from Colella’s collection emphasizing collecting as cultural memory. Colella, a collector from Lucania, founded the association Visioni Future in 2009, which hosts international artists in residencies in Potenza and organizes exhibitions at the Museo Archeologico Provinciale di Potenza, also curated by Benedetti. The exhibition features over 50 artists including Ai Weiwei, Antony Gormley, Mona Hatoum, Carsten Höller, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Giuseppe Penone, and many others.
