Villa d'Este and Villa Adriana Now Accessible via Augmented Reality App
A new mobile app called VILLÆ, available for free on Android and iOS in Italian and English, allows remote and on-site visitors to explore Villa d'Este and Villa Adriana in Tivoli using augmented reality (AR) and 360-degree views. Developed by VILLÆ, ETT S.p.A., and the Consorzio STRESS as part of the CHEMP project promoted by the Regione Lazio, the app features two thematic routes: Il Mito and Le Fontane. Il Mito includes 14 points of interest with AR content for remote users. A special guide is Cardinal Ippolito II d'Este, who commissioned the villa. A musical playlist recreates the sound of the fountains. A separate route dedicated to Piranesi covers Villa Adriana, the Santuario di Ercole Vincitore, the Mausoleo dei Plautii, and other ancient monuments in Tivoli. Director Andrea Bruciati emphasized the app's potential for immersive sensory experiences, while ETT CEO Giovanni Verreschi highlighted the storytelling based on the history of Cardinal Ippolito II d'Este's residence.
