Villa Arson Hosts Dual Exhibitions: Jean Dupuy Retrospective and Arnaud Maguet's Sonic Installations

exhibition · 2026-04-23

From June 29 to September 28, 2008, the Villa Arson in Nice, France, presents two exhibitions. The first, titled "À la bonne heure !", showcases Jean Dupuy's works from the 1970s. After relocating to New York in 1967, Dupuy evolved from gestural painting to a focus on poetic exploration, as seen in "Cone Pyramid," which connects heartbeats to dust. This exhibition features installations and recent canvas pieces that incorporate anagrams and music. Simultaneously, Villa Tamaris in La Seyne-sur-Mer exhibits mostly unpublished works from the 1960s. The second exhibition, "Mais qu'est-il arrivé à cette musique ?" by Arnaud Maguet, creates unique spaces with closed openings, presenting sound installations that explore counterculture myths from the 1950s to 1970s, along with a fanzine that elaborates on the works.
