Vila do Bispo Museum by spaceworkers Opens in Portugal

architecture-design · 2026-05-14

The Vila do Bispo Museum, designed by Portuguese architecture firm spaceworkers, has opened in Vila do Bispo, Portugal. Completed in 2024, the 1,100-square-meter project adds a new volume to an existing building, replicating the shape of contiguous ships to ensure urban and formal continuity while establishing a distinct identity as the main entrance. Lead architects Henrique Marques and Rui Dinis led the design team, which included Marco Santos, João Ortigão, Tiago Maciel, and Akitoshi Kimura. The intervention preserves the site's identity and safeguards the existing structure. Photographs by Fernando Guerra | FG+SG document the project.
