Vienna Secession Hosts 'Forms of the Shadow' Group Exhibition

The Vienna Secession is showcasing 'Forms of the Shadow,' a significant group exhibition curated by Sunjung Kim, the Artistic Director of the Art Sonje Center in Seoul. This exhibition delves into the contemporary shadows created by the pandemic, climate change, and geopolitical strife, particularly focusing on the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). The artworks are divided into three sections: the first highlights geopolitical issues, especially the DMZ; the second investigates historical and geographical connections between East and West, including fin-de-siècle Habsburg and modern Vienna; the third, located between the Secession and the Korean Cultural Centre, emphasizes nature's resurgence in areas disrupted by humans, particularly the DMZ, which has been off-limits for over 70 years. Featured artists include Nilbar Güreş, Ramin Haerizadeh, and others, showcasing sculptures, paintings, embroideries, and performances.
