digital · 2026-04-27

On April 28, 2023, during Comicon in Naples, Stupor Mundi Trans-Media introduced 'Vesuvius 79 D.C. – Fuga da Pompei,' an educational board game themed around the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Designed by Ciro Sapone, the game allows players to take on the roles of actual residents of Pompeii, as reimagined by comic artists. Collaborating with the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, the game seeks to authentically depict the ancient city. Gabriel Zuchtriegel, the director, describes it as a groundbreaking educational resource for cultural heritage. Players will navigate significant locations such as the House of the Vettii and Via dell'Abbondanza, utilizing a dedicated app for extra historical insights. 'Vesuvius 79 D.C.' is set to launch in nine languages in February 2024.
