Videocittà: A New Experimental Festival Merging Cinema, Art, and Fashion in Rome
Francesco Rutelli, President of Anica, has launched Videocittà, an ambitious new festival running from October 19 to 28 across 30 venues in Rome. The event is supported by MIBACT, Mise-Ice, Roma Capitale, Regione Lazio, Camera di Commercio, and Rai as media partner. Editorial director Tomaso Radaelli outlines three main strands: Videofactory (focusing on film industry jobs and training, headquartered at ex Dogana in San Lorenzo), Cinema 4.0 (experimental moving image practices including virtual reality and videomapping, partnering with RomeUp Light Festival), and a section exploring crossovers between cinema, fashion, and art curated by Clara Tosi Pamphili and Damiana Leoni. Fashion partners include Fendi (presenting a major mapping at the Colosseo Quadrato), Gucci for Makinarium, and Bulgari with Diane Pernet for 'A Shaded View on Fashion Film'. Art highlights include premieres of Pierre Bismuth's 'Where is Rocky II' and Shirin Neshat's 'Looking for Oum Kulthum', plus video art programs for children (Kizart by Raffaella Frascarelli) and adults ('Il corpo è un indumento sacro' curated by Paola Ugolini). A collaboration with Romaeuropa Festival features Robert Henke's creativity. The festival concludes with an eco-sustainable Drive-In at the Colosseum.
