Videobrasil Launches Online Exhibition Platform with Focus on Global South

digital · 2026-04-23

On September 4, the Associação Cultural Videobrasil introduced Videobrasil Online, a digital exhibition platform developed in response to the pandemic. Each exhibition runs for approximately one month, aiming to enhance access to productions from the Global South and to reinterpret its collection. The first showcase features the documentary 'Abdoulaye Konaté – Cores e Composições' by Juliano Ribeiro Salgado. Future exhibitions will include works by Ayrson Heráclito and others, alongside documentaries and solo artist presentations. Curators such as Juliana Borges and Julia Rebouças are involved in the project, which draws from Videobrasil's extensive 37-year archive of 1,560 artworks and 11,000 documentary pieces. Director Solange Farkas emphasizes the project's worldwide impact and the importance of the 'Global South' concept.
